Kristyn Wong-Tam, City of Toronto, Canada
Kristyn Wong-Tam is a second-term Toronto City Councillor and the Chair of the Disability, Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee. Coming from a successful career in real estate, financial services and the arts, she has been effectively transforming public spaces since her election in 2010. Noteworthy accomplishments include the expansion and revitalization of downtown Toronto parks and major investments in diverse, family-friendly neighbourhood planning. In 2012, Councillor Wong-Tam converted Canada’s iconic main street into a dynamic outdoor pedestrian-friendly mall for active transportation and enhanced animation. Working with 8-80 Cities, she co-founded, Open Streets TO, Toronto's largest, free recreation program attracting over 80,000 participants. Currently Councillor Wong-Tam is in partnership with the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation to create Canada's first urban Indigenous District.
