Diana C. Parra, PT, MPH, PhD, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, USA
Dr. Parra was born and raised in Bogotá Colombia, the capital of Ciclovía, TransMilenio (a bus rapid transit system), and an extensive network of bicycle paths. She is a physical therapist with a MPH, a PhD in Social Work, and a Post Doc in Public Health Nutrition. For over 12 years, Dr. Parra has done research on physical activity and the built environment, as well as community based physical activity programs. Most recently she has developed an interest in public health nutrition, completing research on food based dietary guidelines, the nutrition transition, and the dual burden of malnutrition. Dr. Parra also successfully managed a cross-national interdisciplinary collaboration over eight years known as Project GUIA, which developed a great deal of information regarding evidence-based physical activity interventions in Latin America.
